  16. SILENT RUN DEEP". Well, anyone with

  18. fingers and a joystick glued to one

  20. hand better sign up right now. Uncle

  22. Sam wants YOU! Silent Service is a
  23.  
  24. well thought out submarine warfare
  25.  
  26. simulation. I refrain from calling it
  27.  
  28. a game as I see it more as an
  29.  
  30. educational adventure in submarine
  31.  
  32. warfare in the Pacific. There are
  33.  
  34. practice scenarios as well as convoy
  35.  
  36. and Pacific patrol actions with many
  37.  
  38. variables to keep your bottom warm
  39.  
  40. this winter.
  41.  
  42.   The program is well supported by
  43.  
  44. the manual but there is so much to
  45.  
  46. learn you may wear out the pages
  47.  
  48. before you master the submarine
  49.  
  50. commands. There are moderately
  51.  
  52. detailed views of the conning tower,
  53.  
  54. bridge, gauges, and charts.  You may
  55.  
  56. look through the periscope from the
  57.  
  58. conning tower or just look out from
  59.  
  60. the bridge.  Binoculars may be used
  61.  
  62. from the bridge for improved vision.
  63.  
  64. The enemy ships are very well
  65.  
  66. depicted and may change course, try
  67.  
  68. to ram you, or call in the cavalry
  69.  
  70. disguised as a Kaibokan class
  71.  
  72. destroyer.
  73.  
  74. The torpedo data computer (TDC) will
  75.  
  76. help you fire the 4-inch deck gun or
  77.  
  78. send off the bow and stern torpedos.
  79.  
  80. "I" will identify what you are
  81.  
  82. looking at so that you can plan the

  84. sequence of the attack or so that you
  85.  
  86. know who that idiot is that got you
  87.  
  88. out of the bunk and is 500 yards
